Unfinished Life shaping up well, but only read a few chapters as head too full of poems - our very exciting Open Mike* Poetry night at the Library is taking up all my brainpower. *Let's open up the debate which has recently split our small community: would you spell the diminutive of microphone 'mike' or 'mic'?

The Concise Oxford Dictionary lists both mic and mike as acceptable.
Ah, acceptable to the dictionary maybe but impossible to reach even grudging agreement between the Mike-ers and the Mic-ers, each thinks the other is totally ridiculous.
There's no answer to that.
